REQUIRES: Far Harbor, Nuka World, Halloween CC Pack
FEATURES
- Restores access to nine unused holotapes and holotape-shaped keys from the base game and DLCs.
- Holotapes are distributed in places (or on persons) where their presence makes sense.
What holotapes did you restore?
Mostly a few keys and some generic lore tapes. In terms of tapes from the base game, I placed RobCo Defragmenter in East Boston Preparatory school. This tape is purely visual flavor and doesn’t actually do anything. It has a broken alternative version that was intended to hack turrets, but I wasn’t inclined to decompile the flash menu it uses to figure out what went wrong. I also placed The Great Division, a Children of Atom religious tape, in a terminal in Crater House.
For Far Harbor, I placed the Navy Base Terminal Password next to a newly placed skeleton in the Nucleus Command Center. This is a key for the final area in the command center, and having access to the key does not break relevant quests because there are other safety measures in place. I also adjusted a terminal entry on the Vim! CEO’s terminal to give you the CEO’s Master Password, which gives you access to the elevator leading to the factory’s basement. This elevator is hackable from the start of the game and this just serves as an alternative means of entry. And finally, I added Faraday’s Password to his inventory to act as an alternative path for Kasumi’s quest in Acadia.
Nuka World is where things get a bit interesting in terms of missed lore. Dusty’s Message and Maja’s Message can now be found in the Nuka-World Power Plant, for those who go looking for them. The other Nuka World tape I restored is Sergeant Lanier’s Report, which can be found at Bradberton Overpass.
Finally, I restored Charl ie’s Holotape, which contains a cut journal entry from the Halloween Workshop Pack. This is the only tape I directly edited, because it was incomplete and listed itself as being for the “NE Technological Society” rather than the New England Technocrat Society. I also added a top-level message to the tape, since it was missing one and only had a single submenu with a journal entry.
