FINALLY!!! We on Xbox can live out our dreams of becoming a ghoul! “But, Venus, we have ghoul mods..” SHUT IT!!! We finally have one that will almost immersively turn us into ghouls through the “Ghoulish” perk.
Requires Nuka World DLC
If you do not have Nuka World, you can use this version here: mods.bethesda.net
First off, credit to tylitalo on Nexus for most of the edits to the perk changing how it works to the following:
Rank 1 - 50% of radiation taken as healing, and 1 point of radiation damage absorbed per second.
Rank 2 - 100% of radiation taken as healing, and 5 points of radiation damage absorbed per second.
Rank 3 - 150% of radiation taken as healing, and 10 points of radiation damage absorbed per second.
Rank 4 - 200% of radiation taken as healing, and 20 points of radiation damage absorbed per second.
In addition to these gameplay edits, I’ve written a couple scripts that actually change you into a ghoul. At Rank 2, you officially change races into a ghoul. Your skin becomes nasty and wrinkly (you still have your nose and eyes, though.) At Rank 3, your nose falls off and your eyes decay into a random ghoulish tint. Congratulations! You’re a ghoul!!! You know what comes with that? People are repulsed by you! As you go through your changes, you will lose 1 to 2 Charisma points. But hey, you’re a ghoul! Finally, at Rank 4, feral ghouls no longer attack you.
No hacky mod to a Bethesda game would not be complete without a couple quirks, however. For whatever reason, when you gain Ghoulish Rank 2 and change races, male players gain a bloody neck seam. The actual effects of the perk also won’t work. Both of these get fixed by exiting to the main menu and reloading the game. Also, if you gain Ghoulish Rank 3 in the same play session as Rank 2 without having exited to the main menu (male or female) you won’t see the visual changes to your nose and eyes right away. Again, if you exit to the main menu and then reload your save, all visual changes will be applied properly. I don’t know how to get around these issues, unfortunately.
This mod is also incompatible with most mods that edit companions, as for whatever reason they cause you to turn into a ghoul when you enter Goodneighbor regardless of whether you have the perk or not. I can confirm that “Better Companions - All In One” does not cause this bug and is compatible. You can get that mod here: mods.bethesda.net
