Nexus Description:
A ranger armor enhancement mod for Grilled Turkey’s NCR Outfit Pack. Includes toggleable visor lights for Ranger & Riot helmets. Highly customizable options to change the armor & helmet colors. Can also change faction decals, add additional armor, armor lining, targeting HUD & ballistic weave. Also includes some bug fixes to the original armor like allowing different helmets to be swapped out with the armor. Removed some redundant outfit slots so the armor plays nice with accessories & backpacks. Armor now registers properly with arm & leg damage resistance values. All customizations can be done on the Armor workbench. Armors are standalone so they can be used alongside Grilled Turkey’s original mod.
The visor lights are a light source that can be activated like a pip-boy light. It’s based on the mining helmet & power armor headlamps. The 6 light mods include red, blue, purple, green, orange & white. The lights are enabled to cast shadows. Several faction decals can be added to the right side of the helmet. The mask & helmet colors can be changed separately as well. The targeting HUD is based off the vanilla power armor detect life effect. The effect highlights heat, life & death. There is also a low light night vision based off the night person perk. Target HUD activates when player is in crouch/stealth mode. Ballistic weave is available if you have finished the railroad quest. Male and female helmets. The glow lens on the right side of the helmet can be added if you want some extra customization. If you don’t like the Targeting Hud then check out my companion mod that enables West Tek Optics on the helmet here.
The armor colors can be changed using the faction presets. The additional armor addon presets will cover the arms & legs. An upper chest faction decal can be added or removed on the armor. Misc lining options can be selected for things like lighter build & lead lined. Ballistic weave is available if the Railroad quest is completed. I took the approach with this mod that too many options can be just as bad as too few so I hope I achieved a balance in that regard. Male & female armors.

There are optional armor variants that can be crafted:
Ranger Combat Armor Enhanced NO PIP & Riot Gear Enhanced NO PIP. These armors are for companions, settlers & those who use pip boy removal mods.
Ranger Combat Helmet GLOW ONLY & Riot Gear Helmet GLOW ONLY. The visor light is removed but you can still change the visor glow of the helmet. Use this if you prefer the vanilla pip boy light or other lighting mods.
The armors can also be found in the wasteland. The Ranger armor is located in the interior lower levels of Dunwich Borers.
The Riot Armor is located in the interior of Poseidon Energy on the upper levels.
Known Issues:
This mod uses 12 custom add on nodes numbering 28300 to 28311. If you are using a mod that uses the same numbers for their add on nodes then there will be a conflict. See this page to get more info.
Mostly vanilla bugs that you see with power armor headlamps or mining helmets. When you first craft the helmet & activate the light, the light source might be at your feet. Just deactivate the light and drop the helmet. Pick it up again, turn on the light and it should be in its default place. Just like the vanilla mining helmets, if you enter power armor the light will deactivate.
The Helmet only has a visor light. My previous Ranger Helmet mod had an extra flashlight but this produced very hard rectangular light fall off so I chose not to include that in this mod. The female addon armor may appear floaty or a little oversized. It was a limitation as I tried to balance the fitting between male & female positions as they use the same meshes. If you wish to uninstall the mod make sure to turn off the target HUD first. Then scrap the helmet. Exit the game, uninstall the mod from your mod manager. Restart FO4, and save your game. This is a vanilla bug.
