This overhaul is an expanded version of my “Minor Armor/Ballistic Weave Overhaul” I made a while back. The basic idea is that ballistic weave has been added to more clothes/hats/helmets, new upgrade options for certain armors have been added, nearly every armor and clothing piece has been added to the legendary pool, and faction armor/outfits has been more standardize while also being expanded upon, with DLC clothing and armor also being integrated into the base game. Cleaned with FO4Edit, highlights below.
~~~Update 1.1~~~
Fixed instance naming for batting helmets and DC guard armor, fix robot helmets not getting legendary effects when dropped as legendary loot, increased chitin drop rate and added it to the Fog Crawler LLD, and changed the preview transform of Mirelurk Chitin and Carapace to look better.
~~~Ballistic Weave and New Linings~~~
Ballistic weave is now automatically unlocked, with the Railroad quest unlocking Institute Killer weave (10 less DR/ER in exchange for 10% more damage against institute agents). Weave is available on (basically) every underarmor, outfit, hat, and helmet. It’s been nerfed, now having 20/30/40/50/60 DR/ER for normal weave, and 10/20/30/40/50 DR/ER for Instituted Killer weave. However, outfits (defined for this mod as any body clothing that also takes up the torso slot) now have two new upgrade options on top of weave: Inner and Outer Linings. Inner Linings have most of the same options as Torso mod upgrades (such as Padded, Pocketed, Leaded, etc.) along with some increased DR. Outer Linings are based on the Gecko-backed armors from FNV, they are: Leather-backed, Rubber-backed, Chitin-backed (Mirelurks now drop Chitin on death), Gulper-backed (Gulpers now drop Gulper Skin on death), Yao Guai-backed, Deathclaw-backed, and Gatorclaw-backed. Most of these upgrades have a higher focus on ER than DR, with Gulper- and Gatorclaw-backed options also granting poison resist. With weave and the two linings combined, your DR/ER will be similar to vanilla weave (plus some bonuses), however underarmors and hats/helmets will be nerfed compared to vanilla.
Weave and linings have been added to leveled lists, so most enemies will have some equipped as you level up (stronger mods become unlocked at level 10/20/30/40/50). This does make it so you can scavenge mods instead of crafting them, but enemies will take a lot less damage. It’s recommended that you use another mod that limits npc health scaling to keep things balanced (eg Unbogus Health Scaling).
~~~Legendary LLs~~~
Most clothing has been added to the legendary lists, including underarmor, outfits, helmets, hats, glasses, gas masks, and bandanas. They are organized in a way where they should be pretty evenly spread, so you shouldn’t just be getting spammed with clothing and accessories instead of weapons and armor.
~~~New Clothing~~~
I tried (and failed) at adding a lot of new clothing into the game, but I did manage to get a few things working. I’m pretty sure most, if not all, of these have been added in other mods, but I wanted to include them in this mod too.
Red and Green Baseball Helmets: added to the same LLs as Blue Baseball Helmets
Red Cape (aka Maxson’s Cape): added to a new outfit for the Manta Man NPC that looks more like an actual MM cosplay (also gave him a Harpoon Gun since the Junk Jet doesn’t work for NPCs), also added to Fallon’s Basement inventory and the legendary LL. Takes up the torso armor slot.
Bandolier (aka Cait’s Bandolier): added to various LLs, mainly Raider LLs. Takes up the torso armor slot.
Wastelander’s Dress, Wastelander’s Yellow Dress, and Wastelander’s Blue Dress: these are Nat’s dress and two kids’ dresses that have been fitted for adults. I tried this with all of the kids outfits, but these were the three that I felt actually looked okay. They still look pretty awkward, though, especially if you’re playing as a woman or as a muscular/heavier man, as they keep the child proportions. Nat’s dress looks the best imo, however regardless I only added the dresses to Fallon’s Basement inventory and the legendary LL, since it might feel awkward to see people wearing them randomly. They count as outfits and have both inner and outer linings along with weave.
Mama Murphy’s hat and blazer have been separated into two different clothing items and added to some LLs
Raider Eyepatch (aka Gage’s Eyepatch) is now playable and has been added to Raider LLs
~~~Integrated Armor and Clothing~~~
Most unique armors have been renamed (or had a generic copy made of it) and have been added to various LLs. For example, MacCready’s Hat and Duster have been renamed to Capital Mercenary’s Hat/Duster, and has been added to the Gunners and Raiders LLs. DLC clothing and armor have also been integrated into the base game, though they will be rarer (and usually higher level) than base clothing and armor. For example, Raiders have a small chance of spawning with Pack, Disciples, Operators, Trapper, or Rust Devil armor, and Gunners have a chance to spawn with Operators goggles/glasses and underarmor.
~~~Faction Armor and Clothing~~~
Factions have simultaneously had more armor and clothing added to their pool while also giving them a more consistent/unique look. Gunners have had MacCready’s set, the Submariner set, the Marine Assault armor set, and some Operators gear added to their pools. Minutemen will no longer show up wearing rags, and should look more like an actual militia with a western and colonial flair. Triggermen and the Neighborhood Watch have a few more suits, trench coats, and fancy hats added to their leveled lists. Raiders, Scavengers, and Settlers have had their outfit pools expanded on the most.
~~~Other~~~
Fixed the Dirty Trench Coat’s textures on male characters.
Can’t remember if there were any other changes I made. There was a lot of trying stuff out then undoing/deleting stuff that just didn’t work, and I didn’t really keep as much documentation as I thought. If I remember anything I’ll try and add it later, but either way that should cover all of the major changes.
Feel free to make patches for this mod, especially for the Creation Club content since I don’t own any on PC lol.
