So, what’s going on with Vertibird Encounters in game? Why are there so many of them?
Bethesda made total of 12 different Vertibird random encounters. They are all on lists with other random encounters in game so when you trigger random encounter there is chance to spawn Vertibird one. Nothing special here, normal Bethesda random encounter stuff behavior.
Then someone at Bethesda decided that they got to have more cowbell Vertibirds and added extra layer of random encounters with only Vertibirds in them!
They took 10 of those 12 encounters and copied them in to their own separate lists and placed new triggers around map for them. There does not seem to be any kind of cooldown on these so if you don’t fast travel but walk around Boston you constantly activate these triggers and spawn Vertibirds. And quite often you will trigger 2 or even 3 Vertibirds at the same time: You trigger one from normal random encounter pool and second one from this extra Vertibird-only pool. Then you chase down one Vertibird and since their AI is dumb as Skyrim’s Dragon AI, he flies near another trigger and POP, now you have 3 Vertibirds spawned!
I don’t have to tell you how annoying this is since you are probably in here because of this in the first place.
This mod disables this extra layer of Vertibird-only random encounters and adds cooldowns to rest of Vertibird encounters.
Standard: (recommended for playthrough with fast travel disabled)
- Disables extra layer of Vertibird-only Random Encounters.
- Adds 5 in game days cooldown to Vertibird encounters that are mixed in with rest of Fallout 4 random encounters.
