Have you always wanted to camp out in the wilderness with all the comforts and utilities of home? Are you playing Survival mode and want to sleep without trekking 30 minutes to the last mattress you saw, or just need a chair so you can wait a few hours? Would you get a kick out of living in a lighthouse on top of a tug boat above the Prydwen? Do you need a secure place to store some loot so you don’t have to return home halfway through a mission to dump 500 pounds of junk? Would you like to break down some items for their important parts without ever leaving the comfort of the bandit camp you just attacked? Wouldn’t it be convenient to build a bridge across that ravine rather than marching down into it and back up again over and over, or build a wall to block off some enemies and deal with them later? Have you tried other camping or construction mods, only to find that quickly removing and rebuilding your new projects was too cumbersome? Then this is the mod for you.
In a trunk right outside of Vault 111, you will find an Object Eraser (knife) and a collection of rings blessed by the Nine Divines…I mean, imbued with amazing technology. Equip one of these rings, and the object of your desire will appear right where you’re standing, oriented in the direction and angle you’re facing. If you like, you can equip and unequip a ring without ever leaving your inventory menu, and your object will still be placed when you leave the menu. If you change your mind about that object, or you don’t like the way it’s facing, just use the Object Eraser to whisk it away to the void, and make another one. You can build and destroy each object as many times as you like. All workbenches, the surgery and barber chair, and even the workshop are functional wherever you place them.
Notes:
As mentioned in the description above, Portable Camping & Construction objects are placed based on the direction and angle you’re facing. If you want objects to be placed at the normal angle, you’ll need to face straight forward. If you want them to be placed perpendicular to the ground, face straight up or straight down. If an object is placed in a way you don’t like, just erase it and try again.
The workbench will allow you to build many things (especially if you’re also using a mod like FreeMaker), and scrap many things (especially if you’re also using a mod like Scrap That Settlement or Scrap That Commonwealth). You’ll need the scrap materials to build things via workshop, but you can often acquire them by scrapping things in the area. However, you cannot make a true settlement with the workshop - you can’t assign settlers to live there or perform tasks, you can’t connect it to your other settlements for supplies, etc.
Portable Camping & Construction containers do not respawn, so your gear will be safe there permanently as long as you don’t use the Eraser to destroy them.
If a chair isn’t sitting upright, when you sit in it you won’t be able to wait because the game will think you’re falling. If this happens, just exit the chair, erase it, and make a new one at a better angle.
You could use the Doorbuster from another one of my mods, Destructible Doors & Gates, to destroy these objects, and you could use the Eraser from this mod to destroy doors and gates if you have Destructible Doors & Gates installed, so you don’t have to carry two weapons around for both these mods. Both weapons just do 65,535 base damage, which usually equals over 100,000 damage per attack, and all Portable Camping & Construction objects have 100,000 health, just as doors and gates do with Destructible Doors & Gates. For that matter, you could use either weapon as an instant kill cheat weapon if desired.
All rings, and the Eraser, are weightless.
These rings don’t take up an armor slot, so they won’t unequip any other rings you’re wearing.
If there’s an object you’d like a ring for, let me know and I’ll see if I can add it.
Enjoy!
