Due to a bug in the Survival mode scripts, it is possible for the buffs that you get from consuming food to become permanent.
This mod provides a set of “diseased” foods, craftable under the utility section of a cooking station, that have the opposite effect of their normal variants. Combined with knowledge of how to trigger the bug, they can be used to undo any unwanted permanent buffs that have accumulated.
For example, if you have an unexplained extra 25 carry weight, you probably have the buff from Grilled Radstag permanently applied to your character. To fix, craft the Diseased Grilled Radstag (Cooking Station > Utility) and then follow the steps below to trigger the bug. The Diseased Grilled Radstag will reduce your carry weight by 25, and triggering the bug will make that change permanent, in the same way the buff was.
This mod does not prevent the bug from occurring; it only helps you to restore your character’s stats to their proper values.
Currently only includes the most common foods from the base game, please let me know if you need a different food added.
How to trigger the bug:
[Note that there is a holotape with these instructions craftable with the foods under Cooking Station > Utility]
Before starting, make sure you are not currently under the effects of any temporary buffs, especially from food.
- Rest at least 7 hours to become Well Rested.
- If hungry, eat enough food to become well fed.
- Eat the food with the buff or debuff you want to become permanent.
- Verify that you are under the temporary effect of the food (Pip Boy > STAT > Status).
- Consume RadAway.
If done correctly, the temporary food effect should immediately disappear from the Status screen, and its buff or debuff will be applied permanently.
When checking to see if your stats changed correctly, remember that going through these steps will first make you Well Rested (+2 END and +2 AGI) and at the end, no longer Well Rested and also Hungry (-1 CHA and -2 END). Be sure to factor these states into your calculations if necessary.
Version 2: Added Diseased Roast Yao Guai (reduces melee damage)
